Love stories
Let me share a glimpse of some of my favourite ceremonies.
Mr and Mrs Hodges
Make a big deal, about the things that are a big deal to you.
Like the unfurling of a good chapter in history, this is a love story full of intrigue. Our happy couple wished for a ceremony that was full of heritage and heart. Together we crafted a wedding that was bold and brilliant, witnessed by 200 of their nearest and dearest from all over the world who gathered to see them say “I do” in the magnificent King’s Hall at Bamburgh Castle, Northumberland.
The opening act included the most incredible musical performance by family members. Starring Kat’s Uncle Greg on piano and Hodge’s cousin Abi’s vocals the duo gifted us with a breath-taking rendition of the Welsh hymn Calon Lan, meaning Pure Heart. Beautifully sang in memory of Hodge’s Father.
With quirky readings and a ring exchange including their Maid of Honour as well as the Best Man this ceremony mirrored their values of; family, adventure, and friendships. One of my favourite moments, was the handfasting, a moment of pure love. The couple tied the knot in style to celebrate their union using coloured fabrics and family tartan.
“You wouldn’t believe the amount of people who told us how much they loved the ceremony and how many of them cried with happiness”
— Kat and Hodge
The El-Khiers
When you’re in love, shout about it. Celebrate it and share it with others.
Jess and Alex contacted me from Australia to give me the honour of creating their UK, wedding ceremony at Brosterfield Farm
Sometimes I feel so lucky. I get to work with the most incredibly generous souls like The El-Khiers, warm and compassionate with a healthy dose of wit. They set me a brief of “make it magic, nothing cringe or boring and if you can make our friend’s cry that’s a bonus”.
After chatting over Skype I presented back a ceremony wrapped in love. It began with Jess arriving hand in hand with her Mother and Father. She greeted Alex, accompanied by A Thousand Years sang by HUM gospel choir The ceremony ended on a poignant moment of gratitude with a reading from their dear friend Esme, a key figure in their love story.
The gold dust moments included personal vows, a ring warming and my personal favourite singing Lean On Me. The perfect song choice for this couple echoing their values of kindness and friendship.
Richard and Sally Booth
Past, Present and Future, it will always be you.
Sally and Richard gave me free rein to take everyone on a trip down memory lane with a witty, elegant and sentimental Renewal of Vows in the stunning Acklam Hall, Middlesbrough.
Featuring a musical slide show of family photo’s created by Skytopher I revisited their favourite milestone moments by inviting their children to come and share stories of life with Mam and Dad.
To celebrate their renewed togetherness the couple choose new personal vows and exchanged rings. My favourite moment was a simply stunning candle lighting ritual. To recognise that life can sometimes bring us darkness, but there is always light. The light Sally and Richard share is their love for each other that never dims.
Using light in a ceremony can mean many things. It’s recognised as a universal symbol of hope bringing us warmth and security. A beautiful reminder that better times ahead.
